 Note that the third magus is apparently a woman. This was apparently not as uncommon as you might expect (see also the ‘Adoration of kings’, below).

Adoration of the kings (12th-14th c.)
 Note that, once again, the third magus, (usually traditionally named Melchior) may be a woman. It is not as clear as the Verona image above. S/he is beardless, but there are no other gender-identifying marks.
